Summer Ice!

NORTHERN MAINE FIGURE SKATING CLUB INVITES YOU TO COME SKATE WITH US

The Northern Maine Figure Skating Club will be holding our “Summer Ice” skating program for 2 weeks beginning on Saturday July 7, 2012 and going through Friday July 20, 2012.

Days and Times for the “Summer Ice” sessions are as follows:

          Saturday July 7, 2012 and Sunday July 8, 2012

               (Advanced 9-10am and Basic Skills 10-11am)

     Monday            July 9 & July 16

             Wednesday     July 11 & July 18

             Friday              July 13 & July 20

     (Advanced 7-8am and Basic Skills 8-9am)

We are offering the following package options for lessons:

8 days  $160.00  ______

4 days  $100.00  ______  (Pick any 4 days)

Walk on fee $30/day

ALL BASIC SKILLS SKATERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PAY THE ANNUAL MEMBERSHIP FEE OF $15.00 (YOU WILL NOT NEED TO PAY THIS FEE AGAIN WHEN YOU SIGN UP FOR THE WINTER SESSION).

ALL ADVANCED SKATERS MUST BE REGISTERED AS MEMBERS OF USFSA IN ORDER TO SKATE DURING THE SUMMER SESSION.

PAYMENT IN FULL WILL BE REQUIRED AT THE TIME OF REGISTRATION.

Our Basic Skills program will include 1 group lesson each day and skaters will be grouped according to ability (new skaters) or the highest level previously completed. 

We are working on an off ice activity for the skaters and additional information will be sent out regarding this as soon as it is available.

DVD/Picture

Hello Everyone!

We are hoping that you are resting up after our short but busy season, which as most of you know ended with our spectacular 30th Annual Ice Show, Viva Las Vegas on Ice. Many of you have ordered DVDs and pictures, and they have arrived and are ready to pick up! Please read this important letter from Elaine, our own Membership Chair on when and how they can be picked up.
She writes:


'Hello Skaters and Skating Parents,

 

The 2012 Viva Las Vegas Show DVD and group pictures have arrived! 

This has to be the earliest yet!

Many thanks to the videographer for completing this project!

 

NMFSC will be holding their Annual Meeting in early May, date, time and location to be announced,

and all club members are encouraged to attend this meeting as new board members will be voted on

and plans for the upcoming year will be discussed, including new officers, summer ice plans, fall registration, etc.

 

To those who have not yet received their order, I will plan to have the DVD's and pictures at that meeting

for you to pick up. If you want them delivered sooner please contact me and I will make

arrangements to deliver to your home or at your place of work.  Please respond to this email with your request.

 

It is not too late to order a DVD or picture.  The club will be putting together an order, $25 for DVD and $10 for the picture.

 

Thanks again to all who made the skating season a great success!  It was a real pleasure working with you!

Hello!

Thank you to all of our show participants, parents & guardians, and everyone involved with the show. It was a big success and we could not have done it without you! We would also like to thank and congratulate all our skaters and their parents on the completion of the 2011-2012 skating season. As always, it is our luck to be able to work with such talented and helpful coaches. Thank you for all you do! It was a very enjoyable year and we cannot wait until October to start skating again! Our best wishes go out to the advanced skaters going to Camden, Maine to test in 2 weeks. Below are pictures from the 30th Annual Musical On Ice - Viva Las Vegas, courtesy of Dave Allen Graphics. Hello to all our wonderful skaters and families!

The ice show is just around the corner, and we can't wait to put on another fantastic show! The information posted below are just some friendly reminders about Viva Las Vegas on Ice! Thank you for all of the hard work you have put in to skating this season! We hope you enjoyed your time and return to skating next year! 

 Important Skater Information

During the show we know the skaters love to watch the other skaters perform.  We have a section that will be blocked off at the zamboni end of the rink.  Please make sure your skater is not wandering around the rink during the show.  We ask that anytime a skater is in the bleachers they are wearing a jacket or covering of some sort over their costume.  Please keep the costumes a surprise for our audience.  Please no eating or drinking colored liquids when in costume.  We do not want to take the chance of a costume being stained!  A quick snack for those that need it has to be done between costume changes. 

Show T-Shirts

T-shirt pick up will be at the registration table in the back lobby by the locker rooms.  In order to pick up your t-shirt you must pay for it!  T-shirts are $10 and extras are available for those that forgot to order one! 

Ice Show DVD

If you haven't ordered your DVD of the performance yet please do so at the registration table!  They are $25 for the dvd and $5 for the cast photo when ordering the dvd or $10 for the cast photo only.  Darick Williams of Caribou is our show's videographer this year and does excellent work. 

Ice Show Photography

Dave Allen will be our show photographer.  He will have his studio lights set up an hour and a half before each show for photos of your skater in their costume.  He will also be selling a cd of photographs of the entire show.  His photo package information will be available at dress rehearsal at the registration table.  Please grab a form!  We will also have extra copies available at his table the day of the show. 

Dress Rehearsal

Please plan on being at dress rehearsal at 6:00pm sharp so when we start at 6:15pm we will have everyone ready and in position for a smooth evening!  Please make sure your skater is in their first number costume.  We will be starting dress rehearsal with a run through of the finale.  Please remind your skaters to try their best.  They have a second chance to skate through their number at the end of dress rehearsal if needed and coaches will then decide if the group will require a Saturday morning practice and will schedule one before you leave.  Soloists please schedule a time for Saturday morning to run your solo with your coach.  The coaching staff is available all Saturday morning.  WAGM will be at the rink at tomorrow night to do a live segment.  If you would like to be in this segment please plan on being at the rink at 5:45pm and find Coach Sarah for further instructions. 

Ice Show

Remember the ice shows are at 1 and 7.  Please make sure to be at the rink and in costume 1 hour before the start of each show.  Locker rooms will be assigned for your costumes and skate bags.  We have a lot of skaters in each dressing room so please limit the amount of traffic going in and out of the dressing rooms.  Each skater should only have 1 person in the locker room assisting them.  Family and friends can visit them in the bleachers or after the show.

Please note that these changes only affect this week and more information will be provided soon. If everything goes according to schedule, please plan on using this agenda for everyone except the Party Rock Anthem group next week. Thank you for understanding this and we hope you or your skater has a pleasant skate!
